In this tutorial, we’ll demonstrate how to draw a Box Plot in Glimpse to visualize the distribution of the population across different ages.
First, add in the data by going Data > Sample Data > population.json from the top menu.
Then, under Visual > Mark in the Inspector panel, set the Mark type to Box Plot.
Drag the field people into the X encoding.
Next, drag the field age into the Y encoding and in the Insepector panel, set the Measure type to Nominal.
To fix the order of the ages axis, go into the Inspector panel and under Visual > Encoding activate Sort.
To include the whisker end ticks, go Visual > Mark and make sure Whisker End Ticks is activated. If the ticks aren’t displayed, then go Size and enter in a value (4 pt used below).
This concludes this tutorial on drawing a Box Plot. If you want to further customize your chart, please read the documentation.
